Electric Department
Edinburgh Power and Light was founded in 1822 and currently services approximately 2,900 residents and businesses. We are members of IMPA which is a state-wide agency that offers a power system that delivers low cost, reliable power to customers. We are also members of IMEA which is a joint agency of municipals and communities who collaborate on safety, training, mutual aid, and legislative items. We utilize IMEA to train our workforce as well as to keep us up to date on safety related items.
The Electric Department is responsible for not only supplying power throughout the service territory, but also for the replacement of poles, lines, and transformers; trimming of trees that are in power lines, and replacement of secondary services, as needed, to maintain a reliable source of power to our customers.
