K-9 Unit

The Edinburgh Police Department uses two certified drug dogs and two certified patrol dogs as part of the overall strategy to provide a safe town environment. The drug and patrol dogs are considered dual-purpose dogs, trained in their specific scent detection area as well as suspect apprehension and tracking. The Edinburgh Police Department's K-9 program is designed to be a multifunctional program, combining the latest in K-9 policing techniques with crime prevention programming.
