Mary E. Grindstaff, 82, of Edinburgh, died Sunday, May 13, 2012, at Brown County Health and Living Community in Nashville. She was born March 23, 1930, in Johnson County, to the late Fred L. and Mamie (Evans) Roberts. She married Joseph E. Grindstaff on Jan. 13, 1951, in Greenwood. He passed away March 13, 2006. Survivors include her children, Bob E. (Anne) Grindstaff of Nashville, Kevin D. (Angela) Grindstaff of Butlerville, Saundra K. (Tim) Basey of Edinburgh and Donna J. (James) Shields of Columbus; her grandchildren, Justin (Stephanie Michaels) Cope of Muncie, Adam Cope of Columbus, Bobby (Heather Mitchell) Grindstaff and Shawn Grindstaff, both of Nashville, and Beth and Joseph Grindstaff of Butlerville; her half siblings, Thelma Ripley and Etta Sullivan, both of Kentucky, Lucille Smith of Anderson and Albert and Don Roberts, both of Shelbyville. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Emma M. Ford, Mabel Burkhart, Florence Mudd and Edna Ford; a brother, Leroy Roberts; and a half brother, Wayne Roberts. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a fan of the Colts, Pacers, Purdue and NASCAR, especially Tony Stewart. A funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main Cross St., Edinburgh, with Rev. John Young officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bartholomew County Humane Society in care of the funeral home or to the charity of the donor's choice.
