Martha Edell Roberts, 85, of Columbus, died at 9:52 P.M. on June 28, 2024 at Keepsake Village. Martha was born January 17, 1939, in Edinburgh, Indiana, the daughter of Loren W. Burton and Dessie M. Burton. She married Larry Roberts on November 1, 1955, and he preceded her in death on September 16, 2003. Martha was a bright soul to all who knew her, whose love for music and dance reflected the joy she carried within. She was a member of the "Who So Ever Will" church and her love for God was unmatched. Her creativity and wit shone through in the poems she would craft spontaneously. She was the rock that held her family together, offering unyielding support and laughter in times of need. Martha's friendship with her best friend Mabel was a testament to her loyalty and heart, as they spent countless hours in each other's company, creating memories that will be treasured forever. Her funny personality made her the life of every gathering, and her ability to elevate the moods of others was unparalleled. The funeral will be at 1:00 P.M. July 3, 2024, at Who So Ever Will Church with Pastor Randy Denton officiating. Calling will be from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the church. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Keepsake Village, American Cancer Society, or Main Street Hospice. Survivors include her sons, Todd Roberts of Brownsburg and Brent (Jenny) Roberts of Franklin; daughters, Kenya (Russ) Jones of Columbus and Shelley (W.A.) Burton of Edinburgh; grandchildren, Derek Jones, Sahsha Garmene, Loren Jones, Kyle Roberts, Kelly Hall, Tysha Smith, Kevin Bryant, Blake Roberts, and Emily Frey; 15 greatgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Loren and Dessie Burton; her husband Larry Roberts; brothers, Donald Burton, Glendale Burton, and Loren Burton Jr.; sisters, Helen Landis, Betty Bowker, and Joann Michaels; grandsons, Brandon Bryant and Jacob Bryant.
