Patrick E. Chandler Badger-C-96-3

Patrick E. Chandler, known affectionately as Pat to his friends and family, passed away peacefully of natural causes on January 3, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on March 17, 1948, in Columbus, Indiana, Pat was a lifelong resident of his beloved hometown where he also drew his last breath, surrounded by the love of his extensive family. Pat was the cherished son of Lora and Mary (Phillips) Chandler, both of whom preceded him in death. He was a devoted husband, having married the love of his life, Sharon Howard, on January 13, 1979. Together, they raised a beautiful, blended family that included their children, Robert Barrows, Vincent Barrows, Danny (Kira) Pickett, Allen (Angie) Howard, Diana Barrows, Angela Chandler, and Michelle (Mike) Adams. Pat's legacy continues through his 29 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, who will remember him for his boundless love and the wisdom he imparted. Pat was the brother to Larry Chandler, Chester (Dorothy) Chandler, Carl Chandler, Donna (Darrel) Brewster, and Emily (Larry) Leeper. He was a guiding light in their lives, as he was in the lives of all who knew him. Pat was preceded in death by his siblings Johnny Hall, Herbert Hall, Charles Chandler, Buford Chandler, Carl Chandler, Tommy Chandler, Forst Chandler, Robert Chandler, Delores Mullis, Pauline Featherstone, Alta B. Waddel, and Alma Littlejohn, and a daughter, Anne Marie Stout. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he often spoke of them with fondness and pride.
Before his retirement, Pat dedicated several years of service to Amos Hill and later to Hoosier Veneer, where he was respected for his strong work ethic and camaraderie. His commitment to his community extended beyond his professional life. After retiring, Pat answered a higher calling and became a pastor, shepherding congregations in Edinburgh and Salem, Indiana. His sermons were heartfelt, and his guidance was sought by many seeking comfort and understanding. Pat proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1970.Pat lived faithfully and left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he touched. Pat's memory will live on in the stories passed down through generations and in the acts of kindness he inspired. Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Jewell Rittman Family Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Garris officiating. Calling will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 13, 2025 and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.Memorial may be made to Healing Waters Church through the funeral home.
