Dale E. Scott, 87 of Edinburgh, Indiana passed away January 9, 2025, at his residence. He was born on July 12, 1937, in Madison, Indiana. He was the son of John Paul and Opal E. (Banta) Scott. He married Darleen (Giles) Scott on March 6, 1965, and she survives. He is also survived by his daughters, Mary Ann (Shane) Sweeney of Edinburgh, Indiana and Terry Pruitt of North Vernon, Indiana, sons, Thomas Dale (Carol) Scott of Columbus, Indiana and John Edward (Sarah) Scott of Danville, Indiana, grandchildren, Jessica (Tyler Franklin) Morris, Jennifer (Dusty) Whitaker, MacKenzie (Travis) White, and Joslynn Smith, great-grandchildren, Xander Pruitt, Kian Lobdell, Kyler Whitaker, Chloe Buker, Maddox Buker, Ellie White, Evie White, Rylan Franklin, Tatum Franklin, Booker Smith, and Gannon Smith, and brothers, Leon (Connie) Scott of North Madison, Indiana and Eddie (Shirley) Scott of Hanover, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents. Dale graduated from North Madison High School. He was a former member of the FOP and Civil Defense. He served on the Edinburgh Police Force from January 1961 until May 1979. He then owned Scott Construction Company for many years. He enjoyed building things for his grandkids, being around the police department, working puzzles, was a Cincinnati Reds fan, and his special pet, Cali. A funeral service will be conducted by Reverend Randy Denton at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Who-So-Ever-Will Community Church in Edinburgh. Calling will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday, January 13 and from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church on Tuesday. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
