Diane "Dee" Rooks M-G-25-3

Diane "Dee" S. Rooks, a beacon of faith and devotion, passed from this life at 3:32 a.m. Saturday,
February 8, 2025, at her home, leaving a lasting legacy of love and service. Born July 25, 1948, in
Columbus, the daughter of Cashious and Eva McGaha Bryant who proceeded her in death. She
was also proceeded in death by her mother and father-in-law Raymond and Velma Green Rooks.
Dee was a living testament to her unwavering beliefs and dedication to her family.
On September 3, 1966, Dee was united inmarriage to Ray E. Rooks, and together they embarked
on a journey spanning 58 remarkable years. Their union was blessed with children who inherited
their mother's spirit: Amy Harrell and Audrey (Phil) Westerfield, both of Columbus; Ben
(Michelle) Rooks of St. Charles, IL; and Adam (Jennifer) Rooks of Columbus. Dee's pride and joy
were further amplified with the love of her grandchildren, Brooke (Luke) Porto, Braden (Ashley)
Grider, Logan (Anthea) Harrell, Brennen Grider, Evan (Niki) Harrell, Bryant Grider, Mackenzie
Rooks (Hunter Freeman), Graham (Rachel) Rooks, Brileigh Westerfield (Gunnar Tays), Cayden
(Lauren) Rooks, and Ella Grace Rooks, along with ten great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind
her caring brother, Rick (Jan) Bryant of Brown County and many loving family members and
friends. Professionally, Dee's talents shone brightly as an Administrative Assistant. Her service extended
to her church community, where she was a lifetime member of Edinburgh Separate Baptist
Church and attended St. Louis Crossing Church. Dee's love for music permeated throughout her
life as she played the piano at various churches, touching the hearts of many.
Known for her faith-filled spirit, Dee was a woman of immense strength and compassion. She
lived a life focused on loving her family and serving others. Her gentle kindness will be deeply
missed, but the melody of her life will resonate forever in the hearts of all who were blessed to
know her. A private memorial service for family will be held at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on
Washington Street with Jimmie Mcgaha officiating. Her cremated remains will be laid to rest at the Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.
A celebration of life service for all family and friends will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
