Rev. Marvin Brown, 74, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at his second home in Bradenton, FL. He was born on April 27, 1950, in Columbus, IN to Rev. Carlis Brown and Gervis Wilson Brown. He married Brenda D. Crawhorn. Marvin graduated from Columbus High School in 1968 and went to work for Cummins Engine Co. where he quickly excelled in leadership roles that later dawned him as head of excess/obsolete worldwide and retiring 30 years later in 1998. Early in his career, he became a licensed Auctioneer in 1972. He built a well-respected Auction Company in Columbus before moving it to Edinburgh, enjoying 30+ years as a professional auctioneer. Brown's true calling was realized in his service to the Lord. He loved singing and playing music, a true testament to his joyful approach to life and loving people. One of his many favorite sayings and beliefs was, “In order to have friends, you must first show yourself friendly.” His passion for music led him to perform on the Grand Ole Opry in 1974 as a member of the Gospel Rhythmaires. He had a unique ability to engage and entertain, earning respect and affection for all those he came in contact with. Rev. Brown's latest role as pastor of the church he incorporated in 1971, Trinity Baptist Church, is one of his greatest works. He served his congregation with a compassionate heart and an enduring spirit. His sermons were that of wisdom, warmth, and guidance, to provide strength, encouragement, and solace to all who sought it. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Who So Ever Will Community Church, located at 623 S. Eisenhower Dr., Edinburgh, IN 46124 with Jay Ingram and Ricky Burton officiating. Calling hours will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at the church and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Brown; children, Marlin Brown of Columbus, IN, Marilyn (Gregory Mitchell) Brown of Fairfield, OH, Nataline (Jimmy) Weddle of Edinburgh, IN, Jennifer Vincent, Joe (Jaime) Turner, Josh (Nikki) Turner, Jordan (Stephanie) Turner all of Edinburgh, IN; grandchildren, Nikki Luttrell, Bryor Brown, Kaileigh Miller, London Weddle, Bryant Weddle, Lilli Weddle, Jimmy Weddle, Jackson Adair, Jillian Turner, Jarrett Turner, Bella Turner, Josie Vincent, Lily Turner, Halle Turner, Mason Turner, Jayde Vincent, Marvee Vincent, Kelsy Burton, Tinsley Turner, Tally Vidal, Travis Vidal, and great-grandchildren, Zari Mae-Jean Byrd, and Roman King. Rev. Brown was preceded in death by his parents, Carlis and Gervis Brown; daughter Amanda Brown; son Michael Brown; brothers Carlis Brown Jr., J.C. Brown, and Roger Brown; sisters Christine Brown, Clorstine Roberts, and Mary Brown; and grandson Braylon Cash. Arrangements were entrusted to Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home.
