EDINBURGH Evelyn B. Johnson 94 of Edinburgh, IN passed into the Lord’s hands on March 6, 2025.She was the only daughter of Charles &Mary Stafford and the only girl cousin for a very long time. Evelyn was born at home in Arcadia, Indiana on October 26, 1930.She grew up in the Arcadia, Atlanta, Noblesville Indiana area and moved to Edinburgh where she graduated from Edinburgh High School in 1948. She married Vernon Johnson on August 29, 1948, in Salem, IN with their best friends, Harold and Juanita Dougherty who went along on motorcycles and witnessed their nuptials. Vernon preceded her in death on November 20, 2011. She is survived by 2 daughters, Terri (Jim) Denk of Franklin, Indiana and Teddi (Stacey) Sofoul of Port St Lucie, Florida, 3 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 3 brothers, Richard, Bill and Ben Stafford, son-in-law, Claude Eagler and great-granddaughter Kylie Price. Evelyn loved butterflies, jigsaw puzzles and antique glassware. She also loved her girls and all her grandkids. She was a member of Edinburgh First Christian Church before it dissolved and later joined Old Union Christian Church. Evelyn worked as a Doctor’s Nurse and over the course of years she served patients of Doctors Manual, Stogsdill, Andrews, Reynolds, Nalley, and Walters, she also worked as a teller at The Edinburgh State Bank. Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh is handling the arrangements with a graveside service planned for Tuesday, March 11th at 1:30 PM conducted by Garry Goers at Rest Haven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Botanical Garden at the Indianapolis Zoo or the Butterfly Garden of Indianapolis.
